THE VIBE:
READ TIME: 4 minutes.
They say I’m brave.
When people hear where I’ve lived, how I’ve moved, the risks I’ve taken, and all of the uncertain chapters I’ve leapt into, they almost always say: “You’re so courageous.”
They’re referencing how I moved to a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean straight out of high school, without ever having been there before. Or about my bold move from laid-back living in Hawaii, to a wild life in the concrete jungle of New York fucking City— just because I knew I had to live there.
When they learn that I left my entire life in NYC, moved to Paris, France, enrolled in an art school taught entirely in French, and didn’t speak the language, their eyes widen in disbelief.
Even more recently, when people learn how I changed careers nearly two decades in, leaving at the top of my game to pursue my lifelong passion for writing and my curiosity as a podcaster with no promise of what would come next, they look at me as if I am fearless.
Hardly.
I want you to know I wasn’t trying to be brave. I wasn’t operating from a sense of confidence in my outcomes. And I most definitely wasn’t trying to “be fearless.” I was doing something much more pure and perhaps more dangerous—I was simply listening.
And I do see the courage it takes to make those moves and take those chances. But there was still an unsettled feeling inside that caused me to contemplate what was really unfolding within me throughout those moments.
What I started to realize over time was that what people were really responding to wasn’t just bravery—it was the certainty I held in my choices, despite the uncertainty I threw myself into. It was my conviction without having proof.
That’s where confidence started getting confused with courage. But what they were seeing—the composure, the clarity, my “going for it” energy—wasn’t confidence. It was the result of something deeper— it was trust.
I was listening to my heart, the voice of my Soul, and trusting myself to move from it.
In me I trust.— xRx
Courage and Self-trust are deeply intertwined. I trusted what I was feeling in my heart, and because of that, courage became the vehicle for me to execute.
Courage deserves more applause than it gets.
We glorify confidence. We make it the main character of the story, but it’s a mirage—because confidence is a result, whereas courage is the hero. Confidence shows up after courage makes the move.
Confidence has its noble place, but it often overshadows the work that courage does first. Courage is the one who answers the call when everything’s still unknown. Courage is the one who knows you might fail or lose something—maybe everything—and goes anyway.
The truth is, most people aren’t struggling with a lack of confidence. They’re struggling with the courage needed to follow what they know deep down is theirs to do.
This renders the classic excuse that many rely on — “I just need to feel more confident before I…” NOPE.
What it actually means is: I’m afraid that if I move from my heart, I might fail or lose something that deeply matters to me.
I get that. Im human too. No one wants to choose something that can put us at risk of getting hurt or facing loss—but it’s still a lie.
It takes guts to trust your heart—I’ll give myself that. Maybe I didn’t immediately resonate with hearing how brave I was because moving from my heart has always been the only way to move, regardless of any risks or hardships I might face.
Call me a maverick—I’ll embrace it and say, 'Sure am.' But ultimately, Im doing what we came here to do— to learn how to trust the truth in us and to create ourselves from it.
We cannot gain home run confidence without our courage stepping to the plate and taking swings first.— xRx
In life, we are all pulled in many different directions— I say, let your heart be the blueprint that leads you into your unique experiences. And if any of those heart moves break you, it will break you open. It will break you deeper. The breaking will show you parts of yourself you came here to meet. Heart moves are what develop a bond with your most authentic Self.
Your highest timeline in life and what’s meant for you will never be built on denying your heart.
Every heart move I’ve made that seemed brave to others wasn’t about bravery— it was about alignment with my Soul. It was Self-devotion in motion. It wasn’t a confident girl making moves—it was a girl who decided at a young age that she would never settle for anything less than everything her heart wanted her to experience.
It was about a girl who made a decision to build her life with trust and let courage do the work—because courage is ready to do the work. But courage is a choice.
The more you choose to be brave and trust your heart, the stronger you become. When you’re living from your most authentic self, with your heart as the blueprint, there is no “chapter” of courage in your life. Your entire story is built on it. Your life is architected from the frequency of courage, not a cameo appearance.
And that’s what builds true confidence.
So if confidence is the goal, then trust yourself. Grant permission for your courage to make the heart move that is calling for your presence, energy, and effort.
The truth in you knows this. Trust it— because that’s what you came here to do.

"Your highest timeline in life and what’s meant for you will never be built on denying your heart." - This is now a constant reminder in days when doubt creeps in and when I start to negotiate with myself. She said "The Truth In You Knows" and then she dropped another diamond like this quote above.
